Toby’s vision become poor in one eye, due to a cataract. She eventually decided to have it removed. Prior to that she had worn glasses for a long time and couldn’t do a lot of things without them. “Once they did the cataract surgery, I was able to see better. When they did the other eye, I could see perfectly out of that eye,” Toby said. As it turned out, she actually had a melanoma in her eye and had to seek special treatment at another facility. “If it was not for Dr. Benaim noticing something, I don’t think anybody would have been aware that anything was wrong,” she explained. “He was so considerate and so warm and understanding.”
